When thinking about energy, the first things that come to mind are electricity and perhaps physical energy. The energy that we use the most, which is electricity is not necessarily the best thing for the environment. It is not so much the electricity itself which is the problem but rather the methods we use to make electricity and then the immense amount that we seem to need to survive.
In order to be environmentally friendly we need to do more than just recycle, we need to limit our electricity consumption but we also need to limit our carbon footprint. Now this is not some fly control exercise where we're just trying to catch the few who cause trouble.
In order to actually contribute to saving the environment we all need to do something. More than recycling or eating organic food, we need to be mindful of the effect that our choices have on the environment and energy consumption is only one small part of that.
Making the choice to have one family car instead of trying to run three is beneficial to the environment and to your pocket. Turning your geezer off while you are sleeping will not only limit your energy consumption it will also diminish your electricity bill.
Being green is not about doing one thing for the environment, it's about considering the environment before you do something. If we all try to do this we might actually make a change.
